For informed conversations with your healthcare team. This guide is not personalised medical advice and has not been individually reviewed by a clinician.
Understand the decision
Ask which appointments can be planned in advance and which depend on monitoring. Find out whether tests at home can be accepted and who reviews those results. A shared timetable should identify both the appointment and the clinician responsible for the next decision.
Put it into practice
Discuss medication transport and storage with your clinic and pharmacist, and check destination requirements through official guidance. Do not adjust doses to fit flight times without medical advice. Build flexibility into travel and work arrangements so a revised appointment does not force an avoidable treatment decision.
Keep the bigger picture in view
Write down the questions that matter to your family before comparing clinics. Medical suitability, treatment eligibility, donor information and future access to records are separate issues; ask who is responsible for answering each one.
Before making a commitment, take the written proposal to a qualified clinician who can assess your own circumstances. Use the questions below to record answers and identify anything still unresolved. Keep the plan, contact details and agreed next steps together so you can revisit the decision without relying on memory.
Questions to take with you
- Who reviews monitoring performed at home?
- Which appointments may move?
- How should I organise medicines for travel?
