Transferring more than one embryo can increase the chance of a multiple pregnancy, with additional risks. The appropriate transfer plan needs an individual clinical discussion. Ask why a particular number is recommended and how the clinic considers both success and safety.

Ask for multiple-birth figures as well as headline success rates. Discuss the alternatives if more than one embryo is available and how later treatment would be planned. Do not let a time-limited trip determine a decision that needs careful medical consideration. Ask for the recommendation and reasoning in writing.
