Understand the decision
When treatment takes place in another country, future care may be delivered by a different dentist. Ask the treating practice what information they can provide about the implant and restoration. Request readable copies rather than photographs of computer screens.
Put it into practice
Build a folder with your treatment summary, imaging where available, component details, laboratory information and maintenance instructions. Keep one backup you can access while travelling. Ask a future dentist which records they need before an appointment. Do not assume a familiar brand name alone identifies the exact components used in your mouth.
Keep the bigger picture in view
A treatment proposal should explain the condition of each tooth and the least invasive reasonable options. Keep a copy of the tooth chart and proposed work so an independent dentist can discuss the same plan with you.
Before making a commitment, take the written proposal to a qualified clinician who can assess your own circumstances. Use the questions below to record answers and identify anything still unresolved. Keep the plan, contact details and agreed next steps together so you can revisit the decision without relying on memory.
