For informed conversations with your healthcare team. This guide is not personalised medical advice and has not been individually reviewed by a clinician.
Understand the decision
Write down why you want the procedure and what you expect it to change in daily life. Discuss those expectations with the surgeon and, if helpful, someone independent of the clinic. You can be interested in treatment and still decide you need more time.
Put it into practice
Review the written information away from the booking conversation. Ask what happens if you change your mind before treatment and read the cancellation terms. If you feel pressured by a limited offer, pause. A useful next step may be another consultation, a different approach or choosing no procedure.
Keep the bigger picture in view
Describe the change you hope for in your own words and ask the surgeon to describe the limitations in theirs. Keep the consultation summary separate from any sales package, and leave time to reflect before committing.
Before making a commitment, take the written proposal to a qualified clinician who can assess your own circumstances. Use the questions below to record answers and identify anything still unresolved. Keep the plan, contact details and agreed next steps together so you can revisit the decision without relying on memory.
Questions to take with you
- Do I understand the main limitations?
- Would I still want this without the promotion?
- What are my options if I decide to wait?
