Understand the decision

Write down what you expect increased height to change. Discuss those expectations openly with the specialist. Ask how the proposed goal was chosen and what physical findings may limit it. A healthy decision includes the possibility that a smaller change or no operation is preferable.

Put it into practice

Consider speaking with an independent mental-health professional if appearance concerns are dominating daily life. This is support for decision-making, not a dismissal of your concerns. Ask the surgical team how they assess readiness and what support continues if the process becomes emotionally difficult.

Keep the bigger picture in view

Cosmetic stature lengthening is a major orthopaedic undertaking. A decision needs an individual assessment of physical health, expectations and the support available over a prolonged recovery. A promised height gain cannot substitute for that assessment.

Before making a commitment, take the written proposal to a qualified clinician who can assess your own circumstances. Use the questions below to record answers and identify anything still unresolved. Keep the plan, contact details and agreed next steps together so you can revisit the decision without relying on memory.

Questions to take with you

  1. Why is this goal proposed?
  2. How is psychological readiness assessed?
  3. What support is available if expectations change?
