For informed conversations with your healthcare team. This guide is not personalised medical advice and has not been individually reviewed by a clinician.
Understand the decision
Explain what concerns you about your nose in ordinary words. Ask the surgeon to distinguish any functional issues from the aesthetic changes you are considering. Review your medical history and any previous nasal procedures before discussing a proposed shape.
Put it into practice
Ask what computer images are intended to demonstrate and whether they are illustrations rather than predictions. Discuss follow-up, the timing of assessment and what happens if you remain dissatisfied. Keep a record of the goals and limitations you agreed. The consultation should be specific to you, not a catalogue of fashionable nose shapes.
Keep the bigger picture in view
Describe the change you hope for in your own words and ask the surgeon to describe the limitations in theirs. Keep the consultation summary separate from any sales package, and leave time to reflect before committing.
Before making a commitment, take the written proposal to a qualified clinician who can assess your own circumstances. Use the questions below to record answers and identify anything still unresolved. Keep the plan, contact details and agreed next steps together so you can revisit the decision without relying on memory.
Questions to take with you
- Are there functional issues to assess?
- What can the simulation actually tell me?
- How and when would a revision be considered?
