Understand the decision

Create a simple photography routine with similar lighting, distance, angle and hair condition. Use it to support conversations with your clinician, not to diagnose a problem. Dramatic lighting and wet-versus-dry comparisons can make change difficult to judge.

Put it into practice

Ask the clinic when they want progress photographs and what they use them to assess. Label images by date and keep the original files. Discuss milestones in advance so you know when a formal review is expected. If you are concerned about symptoms, contact the team rather than waiting for the next scheduled photograph.

Keep the bigger picture in view

A hair restoration consultation should start with a diagnosis and a long-term plan. Ask the clinician to document your baseline, the proposed approach and the alternatives you discussed, including the option of waiting.

Before making a commitment, take the written proposal to a qualified clinician who can assess your own circumstances. Use the questions below to record answers and identify anything still unresolved. Keep the plan, contact details and agreed next steps together so you can revisit the decision without relying on memory.

Questions to take with you

  1. Which views are useful for follow-up?
  2. When should we assess the result formally?
  3. Who reviews the images I send?
