Understand the decision
Full-arch treatment replaces a set of teeth using a supported restoration. Ask the dentist to show exactly which teeth would be retained or removed and why. A second opinion is particularly valuable when a proposal involves removing teeth you were not aware were beyond repair.
Put it into practice
Discuss the temporary stage and final design separately. Ask how cleaning access, bite checks and repair visits will work in your everyday life. Request a clear explanation of what happens if the proposed sequence cannot be completed as expected. The number of implants is one part of a broader design, not a stand-alone measure of quality.
Keep the bigger picture in view
A treatment proposal should explain the condition of each tooth and the least invasive reasonable options. Keep a copy of the tooth chart and proposed work so an independent dentist can discuss the same plan with you.
Before making a commitment, take the written proposal to a qualified clinician who can assess your own circumstances. Use the questions below to record answers and identify anything still unresolved. Keep the plan, contact details and agreed next steps together so you can revisit the decision without relying on memory.
Questions to take with you
- Can any natural teeth be retained?
- What is temporary and what is final?
- How will I clean underneath the restoration?
