Understand the decision
Dry-eye symptoms deserve attention during a vision-correction assessment. LASIK can cause or worsen dryness. Tell the clinician about grittiness, fluctuating vision, contact-lens discomfort and any drops you already use. Do not minimise symptoms because you are eager to proceed.
Put it into practice
Ask what testing is needed and whether the decision should wait until the surface of your eyes has been assessed or treated. Discuss who will manage persistent symptoms after you return home. A written follow-up plan should explain how to reach an eye-care professional, not simply give a general customer-service number.
Keep the bigger picture in view
Your eye examination, lifestyle and expectations all belong in the decision. Ask the ophthalmologist to record the measurements behind their recommendation and how you will receive timely follow-up if your vision changes.
