Understand the decision
A return ticket should not be the end of the care plan. Identify who will answer questions once you are home and whether they can arrange an examination if needed. Remote communication is useful for discussion, but ask how the clinic decides when an in-person review is necessary.
Put it into practice
Keep the treating team’s written instructions with your records and share them with a local dentist who has agreed to see you. Confirm how urgent concerns will be handled and how fees are divided. If you have rapidly worsening swelling, breathing difficulty or uncontrolled bleeding, seek urgent local care rather than waiting for travel arrangements.
Keep the bigger picture in view
A treatment proposal should explain the condition of each tooth and the least invasive reasonable options. Keep a copy of the tooth chart and proposed work so an independent dentist can discuss the same plan with you.
Before making a commitment, take the written proposal to a qualified clinician who can assess your own circumstances. Use the questions below to record answers and identify anything still unresolved.
