Understand the decision
Ask each provider to identify the operation, clinician, hospital and expected care pathway. Compare what is included in assessment, hospital care, rehabilitation and reviews. A lower total is difficult to interpret when those services differ.
Put it into practice
Add transport, equipment, companion costs and follow-up near home. Ask about payment for an extended stay or additional treatment. Keep the dated quote and clinical recommendation together. If a provider cannot explain the boundaries of the package, treat the total as incomplete until the questions are answered.
Keep the bigger picture in view
Describe your daily limitations and the activities you want to regain. Your surgical and rehabilitation teams need the same understanding of these goals, along with a practical plan for mobility and support when you return home.
Before making a commitment, take the written proposal to a qualified clinician who can assess your own circumstances. Use the questions below to record answers and identify anything still unresolved. Keep the plan, contact details and agreed next steps together so you can revisit the decision without relying on memory.
