Understand the decision
Breast reduction can address size and symptoms, but the operation requires an individual assessment. Describe discomfort, clothing difficulties and activities you find hard. Ask the surgeon to explain likely scars, possible sensation changes and any implications for future breastfeeding.
Put it into practice
Cup sizes vary between brands, so discuss the intended result using more than a label. Ask about the help you may need at home and how follow-up will work after travel. Record what is included if the plan needs adjustment. A detailed discussion of limitations is part of a useful consultation.
Keep the bigger picture in view
Describe the change you hope for in your own words and ask the surgeon to describe the limitations in theirs. Keep the consultation summary separate from any sales package, and leave time to reflect before committing.
Before making a commitment, take the written proposal to a qualified clinician who can assess your own circumstances. Use the questions below to record answers and identify anything still unresolved. Keep the plan, contact details and agreed next steps together so you can revisit the decision without relying on memory.
Questions to take with you
- Which symptoms might surgery help?
- What scars and sensation changes should I understand?
- How could future pregnancy affect the decision?
