Understand the decision
Ask the provider to itemise assessment, surgery, hospital stay and follow-up. Identify any services supplied by a different organisation. A single total can hide the boundary between the clinic’s responsibilities and costs you will face after returning home.
Put it into practice
Add travel, medicines, nutritional support, tests and time away from work where relevant. Ask how an extended stay or unexpected treatment would be charged. Keep the exact payment and cancellation terms. A package is easier to evaluate when you can identify who delivers and pays for every stage.
Keep the bigger picture in view
The decision about bariatric treatment belongs within a broader medical and nutritional assessment. Discuss the support you can realistically access at home and make that support part of the plan before choosing where to have treatment.
Before making a commitment, take the written proposal to a qualified clinician who can assess your own circumstances. Use the questions below to record answers and identify anything still unresolved. Keep the plan, contact details and agreed next steps together so you can revisit the decision without relying on memory.
Questions to take with you
- Which follow-up services are included?
- Who pays for an extended stay?
- Which ongoing costs should I budget separately?
